About

Knowledge, green technology and a love for coffee guides our creation of the perfect glasses without causing harm to the Earth.

Material

To make the material, we collect coffee waste from local coffee shops in Kyiv, then dry and mix it with natural oils. The resulting composite material is 100% eco-friendly, biodegradable, light, has a smell of coffee and the look of dark wood. Classic!

Mission

We believe in taking care of the Earth every day, starting with changing attitudes and behavior towards plastic. The problems we face in the climate crisis are systemic and a fundamental societal move is called for.

Back Story

The founder and head of production, Max, is a master of the craft, having learned the art of eyewear making from his father, who started his own eyewear repair shop in 1997. In his father’s small store, Max learned all elements of eyewear repair from screw replacement to welding titanium frames. The first prototype of coffee-based glasses was made in 2015. Max spent almost a year developing the first production technology that made Ochis functional and convenient. It took more than 300 pressed coffee plates until Max managed to achieve the required strength of the material for high-quality glasses. Our manufacturing is based in Kyiv with sustainability being a core value of the brand; the production does not involve CO2 emission.

In order to stay contemporary, we make changes to our designs from time to time.
